Black Mushroom Necklace – Blackened Copper

A handcrafted mushroom pendant necklace made from copper, pewter, stainless steel and dark blue aventurine. The small openwork composition features one sculptural mushroom, a rounded stone and delicate botanical forms enclosed within an oval frame.

The mushroom has a smooth, individually shaped conical cap without dots. Its long curved stem rises from the textured base of the pendant, creating a simple but expressive forest silhouette.

A round dark blue aventurine stone forms the main color accent. In softer light it may appear almost black, while brighter light reveals deep navy tones and subtle sparkling reflections.

The stone is integrated into the composition on a slender curved stem and framed by small rounded metal details. Its polished surface contrasts with the matte black finish of the surrounding metalwork.

Two bud-like forms rise from the base at different heights. Together with the mushroom and stone, they create the impression of a tiny imaginary plant growing inside the oval frame.

A textured cluster of small metal spheres gathers the stems at the bottom of the pendant. The open spaces between the lines keep the piece visually light and emphasize its delicate handmade structure.

The compact size makes the pendant comfortable for everyday wear while preserving the character of a small sculptural object. It can be worn as woodland jewelry, a subtle witchy accent or a personal nature-inspired symbol.

The version shown in the photographs has one smooth mushroom cap without dots, dark blue aventurine and a black finish. Raised dots, another available stone color, a custom pendant size or a silver-tone finish may be requested through personalization.

The pendant is designed as a small wearable botanical object, somewhere between jewelry, a natural memory and a personal symbol. Each component is shaped and finished by hand in my family workshop on the Baltic coast of Poland.

The design begins with impressions of solitary mushrooms, seed pods and dark fragments of color found among forest plants. I do not reproduce nature literally; I allow these observations to guide the material until a new form appears.

I do not usually begin with a finished sketch. The work grows intuitively during the making process — through the dialogue between hands, materials and feeling.

The metal is covered with black patina, carefully sanded and polished, then treated with an antioxidant finishing solution to help protect the surface and preserve its deep tone.

Subtle differences in the color, reflections, surface and internal appearance of the stone are natural characteristics of individually selected elements.

Because every mushroom cap, curved stem, stone setting and oval frame is shaped and assembled by hand, small differences in the curves, spacing, proportions and finish are natural and make each necklace individual.
