Black Poppy Seed Pod Earrings – Copper & Pewter

A pair of handcrafted poppy seed pod earrings made from copper, pewter and steel. Each elongated openwork composition features two sculptural seed pods rising on slender, gently curved stems.

The rounded pods are positioned at different heights and finished with small textured crowns formed from individual metal dots. Their softly irregular shapes preserve the organic character of the handmade design.

The long stems curve inward and cross near the center of each earring. Below the crossing point, the metal lines form a narrow open leaf-like shape that gives the composition an airy botanical structure.

At the lower end, the stems gather around a textured cluster of tiny metal spheres. Two small rounded droplets complete the silhouette and add gentle movement when the earrings are worn.

The two earrings form a coordinated, oppositely directed pair. Their curves and proportions are related but not mechanically identical, preserving the natural individuality of the handmade work.

The deep black finish emphasizes the rounded seed pods, fine stems and delicate open spaces. Depending on the lighting, the surface may appear matte black, dark graphite or softly metallic.

Despite their expressive length, the open construction keeps the earrings visually light. They can be worn as botanical jewelry, unusual poppy earrings or small pieces of sculptural wearable art.

The version shown in the photographs has two poppy seed pods in each earring and a black finish. A custom earring size or a silver-tone finish may be requested through personalization.

These earrings are designed as small wearable botanical objects, somewhere between jewelry, natural memories and personal symbols. Each component is shaped and finished by hand in my family workshop on the Baltic coast of Poland.

The design begins with impressions of dried poppy heads, slender stems and quiet botanical forms remaining after the flowers have faded. I do not reproduce nature literally; I allow these observations to guide the material until a new form appears.

I do not usually begin with a finished sketch. The work grows intuitively during the making process — through the dialogue between hands, materials and feeling.

The metal is covered with black patina, carefully sanded and polished, then treated with an antioxidant finishing solution to help protect the surface and preserve its deep tone.

Because every seed pod, dotted crown, curved stem and decorative detail is shaped and assembled by hand, small differences in the curves, spacing, proportions and finish are natural and make each pair individual.
