Blue Aventurine Mushroom Earrings – Blackened Copper

A pair of handcrafted mushroom earrings made from copper, pewter, steel and dark blue aventurine. Each elongated oval composition contains one sculptural mushroom, one luminous stone bead and delicate botanical forms.

One mushroom rises inside each open frame. Its smooth, individually shaped conical cap has no raised dots, creating a simple dark silhouette above the surrounding stems.

A round dark blue aventurine bead forms the main point of color in each earring. Its polished surface contains subtle sparkling inclusions that become more visible as the stone moves through the light.

Depending on the lighting, background and viewing angle, the stone may appear midnight blue, navy, blue-black, violet blue or softly shimmering cobalt.

The aventurine bead rests on a separate curved stem and is finished with small rounded metal details above and below. These tiny accents visually connect the polished stone with the handmade metalwork.

Another slender stem ends in an elongated seed-like bud. A shorter curved line finishes in a smooth rounded droplet, adding movement and balance to the composition.

The stems emerge from a textured base formed from small individual metal spheres. This irregular surface resembles a miniature patch of forest soil from which the mushroom and botanical elements grow.

A fine oval frame surrounds the entire scene and leads into a small upper ring beneath the clasp. The open spaces keep the earrings visually delicate despite their detailed construction.

The two earrings form a coordinated, oppositely directed pair. They share the same elements and proportions, but their compositions face different directions rather than being mechanically identical.

The deep black finish emphasizes the smooth mushroom caps, delicate stems and sparkling blue stone. In brighter light, subtle bronze and graphite reflections may appear along the polished metal edges.

The version shown in the photographs has one smooth mushroom cap without dots, one dark blue aventurine bead and a black finish in each earring. Raised mushroom dots, another available stone color, a custom earring size or a silver-tone finish may be requested through personalization.

These earrings are designed as small wearable botanical objects, somewhere between jewelry, natural memories and personal symbols. Each component is shaped and finished by hand in my family workshop on the Baltic coast of Poland.

The design begins with impressions of solitary mushrooms, seed pods and fragments of dark blue light found among forest plants. I do not reproduce nature literally; I allow these observations to guide the material until a new form appears.

I do not usually begin with a finished sketch. The work grows intuitively during the making process — through the dialogue between hands, materials and feeling.

The metal is covered with black patina, carefully sanded and polished, then treated with an antioxidant finishing solution to help protect the surface and preserve its deep tone.

The aventurine beads may vary subtly in shape, surface texture, sparkling inclusions and shade. These differences are characteristic of individual stone elements and make every finished pair slightly different.

Because every mushroom cap, curved stem, stone setting and oval frame is shaped and assembled by hand, small differences in the curves, spacing, proportions and finish are natural and make each pair individual.
