Available on request: raised mushroom dots, another available glass color, a custom brooch size or a silver-tone finish.

A handcrafted mushroom brooch made from copper, pewter, steel and vivid cobalt-blue glass. The open botanical composition features three sculptural mushrooms rising above a large luminous glass element.

The mushrooms stand at different heights and have smooth, individually shaped conical caps without raised dots. Their long slender stems create the impression of delicate forest fungi growing upward from a mysterious blue pool.

A large rounded glass element forms the glowing center of the brooch. It is surrounded by a textured setting of tiny metal spheres and pointed organic details that resemble shoots emerging from the forest floor.

Two long curved metal lines pass across the front of the glass and end in smooth droplet-shaped forms near the base. They visually connect the upper botanical structure with the lower edge of the brooch.

A curling stem creates an open spiral near one of the smaller mushrooms. Other slender branches end in rounded droplets and one elongated seed-like bud, adding rhythm and movement to the composition.

Depending on the lighting, background and viewing angle, the glass may appear bright cobalt blue, sapphire, ultramarine or a deeper midnight-blue shade.

The deep black finish emphasizes the smooth mushroom caps, fine stems and vivid glass. In direct light, subtle coppery and graphite reflections may appear along the polished edges.

Despite its expressive structure, the open spaces between the stems keep the brooch visually light. It can be worn on a jacket, coat, scarf, hat or another fabric suitable for a brooch pin.

The version shown in the photographs has three smooth mushroom caps without dots, cobalt-blue glass and a black finish. Raised mushroom dots, another available glass color, a custom brooch size or a silver-tone finish may be requested through personalization.

This brooch is designed as a small wearable botanical object, somewhere between jewelry, a natural memory and a personal symbol. Each component is shaped and finished by hand in my family workshop on the Baltic coast of Poland.

The design begins with impressions of slender mushrooms, curling forest shoots and fragments of blue light found among moss and woodland plants. I do not reproduce nature literally; I allow these observations to guide the material until a new form appears.

I do not usually begin with a finished sketch. The work grows intuitively during the making process — through the dialogue between hands, materials and feeling.

The photographs show three smooth mushrooms and one large blue glass element.

The metal is covered with black patina, carefully sanded and polished, then treated with an antioxidant finishing solution to help protect the surface and preserve its deep tone.

The glass is melted in a special kiln and individually shaped. Subtle differences in its contours, internal texture, bubbles, transparency and shade are natural characteristics of the handmade process.

Because every mushroom cap, curved stem, glass setting and fastening element is shaped and assembled by hand, small differences in the curves, spacing, proportions and finish are natural and make each brooch individual.
