A handcrafted mushroom hair pin made from copper, pewter, steel and vivid blue glass. The two-prong hair fork is crowned with an airy sculptural composition of four mushrooms, flowing stems and luminous glass elements.
The four mushrooms rise at different heights and have smooth, individually shaped caps without dots. Their varied proportions create the impression of a miniature fungi garden growing upward from the central glass setting.
A large oval blue glass element forms the focal point of the composition. It is surrounded by a richly textured setting of tiny metal spheres and pointed organic forms that resemble new shoots emerging from the forest floor.
Two smaller cobalt-blue glass beads appear higher among the stems, adding delicate points of color and balancing the large central element. Each bead is finished with a small rounded metal detail.
The composition also includes a small rounded bud and two elongated seed-like forms. Long curving stems spread outward like branches, giving the decorative crown an expressive fan-shaped silhouette.
Depending on the lighting, background and viewing angle, the glass may appear vivid cobalt, turquoise blue, sapphire or a deeper ocean shade. Natural reflections and subtle variations within the handmade glass make the color look slightly different from every angle.
The two long metal prongs slide into the hair to secure a bun, twist or loosely gathered hairstyle while leaving the decorative mushroom composition visible above it.
The deep black finish creates a dramatic contrast with the luminous blue glass and emphasizes the fine handmade lines. The open construction keeps the piece visually light despite its expressive size.
The version shown in the photographs has four smooth mushroom caps without dots, three blue glass elements and a black finish. Raised mushroom dots, another available glass color, a custom hairpin size or a silver-tone finish may be requested through personalization.
This hair pin is designed as a small wearable botanical object, somewhere between a practical accessory, a natural memory and a personal symbol. Each component is shaped and finished by hand in my family workshop on the Baltic coast of Poland.
The design begins with impressions of slender mushrooms, seed pods and fragments of blue light found among moss and forest plants. I do not reproduce nature literally; I allow these observations to guide the material until a new form appears.
I do not usually begin with a finished sketch. The work grows intuitively during the making process — through the dialogue between hands, materials and feeling.

The photographs show four mushrooms and three separate blue glass elements.
The metal is covered with black patina, carefully sanded and polished, then treated with an antioxidant finishing solution to help protect the surface and preserve its deep tone.
The glass elements are individually made, so subtle differences in their contours, internal texture, transparency and shade are natural characteristics of the handmade process.
Because every mushroom cap, curved stem, glass setting and hairpin prong is shaped and assembled by hand, small differences in the curves, spacing, proportions and finish are natural and make each hair pin individual.
