Brown Glass Mushroom Necklace – Blackened Copper

A handcrafted mushroom pendant necklace made from copper, pewter, brown glass and steel. The elongated openwork composition features two sculptural mushrooms rising on long, gently curved stems around a luminous round glass element.

The mushrooms are arranged at different heights and have smooth, individually shaped caps without dots. Their slender stems cross through the center of the pendant, creating an airy organic silhouette inspired by delicate forest fungi.

The amber-brown glass rests between the stems within a textured setting of tiny metal spheres. Its warm translucent color creates a subtle glowing contrast with the deep black metalwork.

The lower section develops into an open botanical form decorated with small rounded metal details, a textured cluster of tiny spheres and two droplet-shaped endings.

Despite its elongated proportions, the open structure keeps the pendant visually light. The intersecting stems and asymmetrical mushroom forms give the necklace a natural sense of movement.

Depending on the lighting, background and viewing angle, the glass may appear golden brown, warm amber, honey-colored or a deeper cognac shade.

The version shown in the photographs has two smooth mushroom caps without dots, brown glass and a black finish. Dotted caps, another available glass color, a custom pendant size or a silver-tone finish may be requested through personalization.

The pendant is designed as a small wearable botanical object, somewhere between jewelry, a natural memory and a personal symbol. Each component is shaped and finished by hand in my family workshop on the Baltic coast of Poland.

The design begins with impressions of slender mushrooms, tangled stems and warm fragments of light found among moss and fallen leaves. I do not reproduce nature literally; I allow these observations to guide the material until a new form appears. The result remains open to imagination and personal interpretation.

I do not usually begin with a finished sketch. The work grows intuitively during the making process — through the dialogue between hands, materials and feeling.

The metal is covered with black patina, carefully sanded and polished, then treated with an antioxidant finishing solution to help protect the surface and preserve its deep tone.

The glass is melted in a special kiln and individually shaped. Small differences in its contours, internal texture and shade are natural characteristics of the handmade process.

Because every mushroom cap, stem and glass setting is shaped and assembled by hand, small differences in the curves, proportions, glass form and finish are natural and make each necklace individual.
