Clear Glass Branch Earrings – Blackened Copper

A pair of handcrafted asymmetrical branch earrings made from copper, pewter, steel and clear glass. Each elongated openwork composition resembles a delicate botanical branch carrying transparent drops of light.

Five slender stems spread outward from a textured upper junction. Two branches hold large rounded clear glass elements, while a third ends in a smaller milky translucent glass bead.

The two remaining branches are finished with sculptural metal details: one small rounded droplet and one elongated seed-like form. These contrasting endings balance the transparent glass without making the composition feel crowded.

The larger glass elements are positioned at different heights and surrounded by textured settings of tiny metal spheres. Their softly irregular handmade surfaces catch reflections from the surroundings.

Depending on the lighting, background and viewing angle, the clear glass may appear crystal-like, softly smoky, pale pink or touched with silvery reflections. The smaller bead may shift between milky white, pale blue and translucent grey.

The branches vary in length and direction, creating a gentle cascading movement when the earrings are worn. The open spaces between the lines keep the design visually light despite its expressive length. The two earrings form a coordinated asymmetrical pair. Their compositions follow the same visual rhythm but curve in opposite directions and are not mechanically identical.

The deep black finish emphasizes the delicate branches, textured glass settings and luminous transparent elements. Depending on the light, the metal may appear matte black, dark graphite or softly metallic.

The version shown in the photographs has clear and milky glass with a black finish. Another available glass color, a custom earring size or a silver-tone finish may be requested through personalization.

These earrings are designed as small wearable botanical objects, somewhere between jewelry, natural memories and personal symbols. Each component is shaped and finished by hand in my family workshop on the Baltic coast of Poland.

The design begins with impressions of slender branches, seed pods, berries and transparent drops of light found within the natural world. I do not reproduce nature literally; I allow these observations to guide the material until a new form appears.

I do not usually begin with a finished sketch. The work grows intuitively during the making process — through the dialogue between hands, materials and feeling.

The photographs show three glass elements and a closed lever-back clasp on each earring.

The metal is covered with black patina, carefully sanded and polished, then treated with an antioxidant finishing solution to help protect the surface and preserve its deep tone.

The glass is melted in a special kiln and individually shaped. Subtle differences in its contours, internal texture, transparency and reflections are natural characteristics of the handmade process.

Because every branch, glass setting and metal droplet is shaped and assembled by hand, small differences in the curves, spacing, proportions and finish are natural and make each pair individual.
