Deep Red Glass Mushroom Teardrop Earrings – Blackened Copper

A pair of handcrafted mushroom earrings made from copper, pewter, stainless steel and deep red glass. Each small teardrop-shaped composition contains one sculptural mushroom, one luminous glass bead and delicate botanical forms.

One mushroom rises inside each open frame. Its smooth, individually shaped conical cap has no raised dots, creating a simple dark silhouette above the surrounding stems.

A round red glass bead forms the main point of color in each earring. It rests on a separate slender stem and is finished with small rounded metal details above and below.

Depending on the lighting, background and viewing angle, the glass may appear ruby red, garnet, burgundy, dark cherry or almost brown-black.

A curved outer stem ends in an elongated seed-like bud. Its smooth sculptural form balances the red glass bead on the opposite side of the composition.

Another fine stem bends inward to form an open loop and ends in a small rounded droplet. This flowing line introduces movement within the narrow teardrop frame.

The stems emerge from a textured base created from tiny individual metal spheres. The irregular surface resembles a miniature patch of forest soil from which the mushroom and botanical elements grow.

A fine teardrop-shaped frame surrounds the entire scene and leads into a small upper ring beneath the clasp. The open spaces keep the earrings visually delicate despite their detailed handmade construction.

The two earrings form a coordinated, oppositely directed pair. They share the same elements and proportions, but their compositions face different directions rather than being mechanically identical.

The deep black finish emphasizes the smooth mushroom caps, delicate stems and glowing red glass. Depending on the light, the metal may appear matte black, dark graphite or softly metallic.

Despite their compact size, the earrings have a distinctive sculptural character. They can be worn as woodland jewelry, subtle witchy earrings or small pieces of botanical wearable art.

The version shown in the photographs has one smooth mushroom cap without dots, one red glass bead and a black finish in each earring. Raised mushroom dots, another available glass color, a custom earring size or a silver-tone finish may be requested through personalization.

These earrings are designed as small wearable botanical objects, somewhere between jewelry, natural memories and personal symbols. Each component is shaped and finished by hand in my family workshop on the Baltic coast of Poland.

The design begins with impressions of solitary mushrooms, delicate seed pods and dark drops of red light found among forest plants. I do not reproduce nature literally. I allow these observations to guide the material until a new form appears.

I do not usually begin with a finished sketch. The work grows intuitively during the making process — through the dialogue between hands, materials and feeling.

The metal is covered with black patina, carefully sanded and polished, then treated with an antioxidant finishing solution to help protect the surface and preserve its deep tone.

The glass may vary subtly in shape, internal texture, transparency and shade. These differences are natural characteristics of handmade glass elements.

Because every mushroom cap, curved stem, textured base and teardrop frame is shaped and assembled by hand, small differences in the curves, spacing, proportions and finish are natural and make each pair individual.
