Iridescent Glass Mushroom Necklace – Blackened Copper

A handcrafted mushroom pendant necklace made from copper, pewter, iridescent glass and stainless steel. The elongated openwork composition features delicate mushroom forms rising on slender curved stems within an organic oval frame.

A luminous round glass element rests at the base of the pendant in a textured setting of tiny metal details. Its clear surface reflects soft rainbow tones that shift between pale yellow, pink, blue and violet as the light changes. A smaller translucent glass bead adds another subtle point of light within the composition.

The flowing stems and uneven mushroom caps create the impression of a tiny fungi garden growing inside the dark metal frame. The contrast between blackened metal and luminous glass gives the necklace a mysterious botanical character inspired by forest shadows, wet moss and hidden woodland forms.

The pendant is designed as a small wearable botanical object, somewhere between jewelry, a natural memory and a personal symbol. Each element is shaped and finished by hand in my family workshop on the Baltic coast of Poland.

The design begins with impressions of slender mushrooms, tangled stems and fragments of light found among moss and fallen leaves. I do not reproduce nature literally; I allow these observations to guide the material until a new form appears. The result remains open to imagination and personal interpretation.

I do not usually begin with a finished sketch. The work grows intuitively during the making process — through the dialogue between hands, materials and feeling.

The copper alloy is darkened with black patina, carefully sanded and polished, then treated with an antioxidant finish to help protect the surface and preserve its deep tone.

The central glass element is melted in a kiln and shaped individually. Its reflections and color tones may appear different depending on the lighting, background and viewing angle.

Because every pendant is made by hand, small differences in the mushroom caps, curved stems, glass shapes, frame and finish are natural and make each necklace individual.
