Mushroom Magnifier Necklace – Blackened Copper

A handcrafted mushroom magnifier necklace made from copper, pewter, stainless steel and a clear convex glass lens. The round openwork centerpiece features three sculptural mushrooms growing across a functional magnifying surface.

Three mushrooms rise at different heights on slender, individually curved stems. Their smooth conical caps have no raised dots, creating a delicate group of dark woodland silhouettes.

The central transparent glass element is a convex magnifying lens rather than an ordinary flat decorative cabochon. Small print, drawings and natural details viewed through the glass appear enlarged.

The exact magnification strength is not specified. The necklace is intended as an artistic wearable magnifier for viewing small details rather than as a calibrated optical instrument.

The mushroom stems travel across the front of the lens, creating flowing vertical lines while leaving most of the clear viewing area open.

Depending on the lighting, background and viewing angle, the glass may appear crystal clear, softly smoky, pale champagne or touched by reflections from its surroundings.

Two additional curved stems rise along the sides of the composition and end in smooth rounded droplets. Their gentle curves balance the three mushroom caps without making the centerpiece feel crowded.

The round lens is held within a textured handmade frame decorated with small metal spheres and irregular organic details. The lower section resembles a miniature patch of forest soil from which the mushrooms emerge.

The necklace chain attaches to two integrated rings positioned on opposite sides of the centerpiece. This two-point construction allows the round magnifier to rest evenly across the neckline instead of rotating like a pendant suspended from a single loop.

The deep black finish emphasizes the smooth mushroom caps, fine curved stems and transparent lens. Depending on the light, the metal may appear matte black, dark graphite or softly metallic.

Despite its functional glass center, the necklace remains a sculptural botanical object. It can be worn as woodland jewelry, a practical reading accessory or an unusual piece of wearable art.

The version shown in the photographs has three smooth mushroom caps without dots, one clear magnifying lens and a black finish. Raised mushroom dots, another available glass color, a custom centerpiece size or a silver-tone finish may be requested through personalization.

This necklace is designed as a wearable botanical object, somewhere between jewelry, a useful personal tool, a natural memory and a symbolic forest form. Each metal component is shaped and finished by hand in my family workshop on the Baltic coast of Poland.

The design begins with impressions of tall mushrooms, delicate forest stems and the experience of looking closely at small natural details. I do not reproduce nature literally. I allow these observations to guide the material until a new form appears.

I do not usually begin with a finished sketch. The work grows intuitively during the making process — through the dialogue between hands, materials and feeling.

The metal is covered with black patina, carefully sanded and polished, then treated with an antioxidant finishing solution to help protect the surface and preserve its deep tone.

Because the lens is transparent and convex, its apparent color, reflections and optical effect can change depending on the surrounding light, viewing distance and background.

Because every mushroom cap, curved stem, textured frame and side attachment is shaped and assembled by hand, small differences in the curves, spacing, proportions and finish are natural and make each necklace individual.
