Mushroom Necklace with Red Bead – Blackened Copper

A handcrafted mushroom pendant necklace made from copper and pewter, with a red bead and a steel chain. Two sculptural mushrooms rise on long, gently curved stems, forming an elongated botanical composition with an open, flowing silhouette.

One mushroom has a broad cap decorated with raised dots, while the other has a smaller, smooth cap. Their contrasting shapes create an asymmetrical woodland scene. A single red bead rests between the stems like a small forest berry, bringing a vivid point of color to the dark metal.

Slender lines cross and intertwine through the lower part of the pendant, forming narrow loops. Small rounded accents highlight their meeting points, while two droplet-shaped endings complete the composition at its base.

The pendant is designed as a small wearable botanical object, somewhere between jewelry, a natural memory and a personal symbol. Each component is shaped and finished by hand in my family workshop on the Baltic coast of Poland.

The design begins with impressions of delicate mushrooms, tangled stems, berries and small forms found among forest plants. I do not reproduce nature literally; I allow these observations to guide the material until a new form appears. The result remains open to imagination and personal interpretation.

I do not usually begin with a finished sketch. The work grows intuitively during the making process — through the dialogue between hands, materials and feeling.

The metal is darkened with patina, carefully sanded and polished, then treated with an antioxidant finish to help protect the surface and preserve its deep tone. Subtle metallic highlights emphasize the raised dots and the points where the stems meet.

Because every mushroom cap, curved stem and decorative detail is shaped and assembled by hand, small differences in the curves, spacing, texture and finish are natural and make each necklace individual.
