A handcrafted mushroom hair pin made from copper, pewter, steel and white pearls. The sculptural design combines a circular openwork forest composition with two long prongs for securing the piece within a bun, twist or another gathered hairstyle.
Four mushrooms rise inside the round frame on slender, individually curved stems. Their smooth handmade caps vary naturally in size and outline, but none of the mushrooms shown has raised dots.
The mushrooms appear at different heights and face slightly different directions, creating the impression of a small imaginary forest growing across the open circular structure.
Three white pearls introduce soft luminous accents among the dark stems. They are arranged asymmetrically throughout the composition and finished with small rounded metal details.
Depending on the lighting, the pearls may appear bright white, creamy, silvery or softly iridescent. Their smooth surfaces contrast with the deep black finish and textured handmade metalwork.
Two slender stems end in elongated seed-like buds with subtle warm metallic reflections. Additional lines curl into open loops or finish in small rounded droplets.
The stems emerge from a richly textured central section formed from many tiny metal spheres. This irregular surface resembles a miniature patch of forest soil from which the mushrooms and botanical forms grow.
Small rounded metal accents also appear along the outer circular frame, connecting its fine outline visually with the textured center.
Two long metal prongs extend below the decorative section. They curve gently and separate slightly toward their rounded ends, allowing the hair fork to pass through a gathered hairstyle while keeping the mushroom composition visible.
The deep black finish emphasizes the smooth mushroom caps, pale pearls and delicate curved lines. Depending on the light, the metal may appear matte black, dark graphite or softly metallic.
Despite its expressive size, the open construction keeps the hair ornament visually airy. It can be worn as woodland hair jewelry, a witchy botanical accessory or a sculptural statement piece.
The version shown in the photographs has four smooth mushroom caps without dots, three white pearls and a black finish. Raised mushroom dots, another available pearl color, a custom hairpin size or a silver-tone finish may be requested through personalization.
This hair pin is designed as a wearable botanical object, somewhere between jewelry, a natural memory and a personal symbol. Each component is shaped and finished by hand in my family workshop on the Baltic coast of Poland.
The design begins with impressions of mushroom colonies, slender forest stems, seed pods and small pale forms found among woodland plants. I do not reproduce nature literally. I allow these observations to guide the material until a new form appears.
I do not usually begin with a finished sketch. The work grows intuitively during the making process — through the dialogue between hands, materials and feeling.

Its Materials field should contain Copper, Pearl, Pewter and Steel; the nonspecific Stone entry should be removed.
The metal is covered with black patina, carefully sanded and polished, then treated with an antioxidant finishing solution to help protect the surface and preserve its deep tone.
The pearls may vary subtly in shape, surface texture, luster and shade. These differences are natural characteristics of individual pearl elements.
Because every mushroom cap, curved stem, circular frame and hair-fork prong is shaped and assembled by hand, small differences in the curves, spacing, proportions and finish are natural and make each hair pin individual.

About Yadovito
Every form begins with a feeling.
Yadovito is an independent artist studio creating handcrafted nature jewelry and wearable art shaped by personal observations of the natural world. I do not try to reproduce nature exactly. I give form to a feeling — and invite others to find their own story in it.
