Red Glass Mushroom Brooch – Blackened Copper

A handcrafted mushroom brooch made from copper, pewter, red glass and steel. The sculptural openwork composition features three smooth mushroom caps rising on long, gently curved stems around a luminous oval glass element.

The central mushroom stands slightly taller, while the two smaller mushrooms curve outward to create a balanced organic silhouette. Delicate bud-like forms, rounded metal details and flowing botanical lines complete the miniature forest composition.

The vivid red glass forms the visual center of the brooch. It is surrounded by a textured setting of tiny metal spheres and pointed organic details that appear to grow around its surface.

The contrast between glowing red glass and blackened metal gives the brooch a mysterious woodland character. Its airy structure keeps the design visually light despite the detailed sculptural construction.

The version shown in the photographs has smooth mushroom caps without dots. Dotted caps, another available glass color, a custom size or a silver-tone finish may be requested through personalization.

The brooch can be worn on a jacket, coat, scarf, hat or another suitable textile accessory, adding a small piece of imaginary forest life to an everyday or special outfit.

The design is created as a small wearable botanical object, somewhere between jewelry, a natural memory and a personal symbol. Each component is shaped and finished by hand in my family workshop on the Baltic coast of Poland.

The design begins with impressions of slender mushrooms, young forest plants and glowing red fragments found among moss and fallen leaves. I do not reproduce nature literally; I allow these observations to guide the material until a new form appears. The result remains open to imagination and personal interpretation.

I do not usually begin with a finished sketch. The work grows intuitively during the making process — through the dialogue between hands, materials and feeling.

The metal is covered with black patina, carefully sanded and polished, then treated with an antioxidant finishing solution to help protect the surface and preserve its deep tone.

The glass is melted in a special kiln and shaped individually. Depending on the lighting, background and viewing angle, its color may appear bright scarlet, rich cherry red or deep ruby.

Because every mushroom, stem and glass setting is individually shaped by hand, small differences in the curves, glass form, proportions and finish are natural and make each brooch unique.

Packaging

Your order will be packed with care in a kraft gift box, decorated with themed stickers and dried flowers, ready for gifting or keeping as a personal piece.
