Red Glass Mushroom Necklace – Blackened Copper Forest Pendant – Sculptural Fungi

A handcrafted mushroom pendant necklace made from copper, pewter, red glass and steel. The sculptural composition features a luminous teardrop-shaped glass element surrounded by flowing metal lines, delicate rounded details and three slender mushrooms rising above it.

The bright red glass forms the visual center of the pendant, while the dark patinated metal creates a dramatic contrast. The curved stems and asymmetrical openwork structure give the piece a sense of movement, as though tiny mushrooms were growing upward from a glowing forest seed.

The pendant is designed as a small wearable botanical object, somewhere between jewelry, a natural memory and a personal symbol. Each element is shaped and finished by hand in my family workshop on the Baltic coast of Poland.

The design begins with impressions of small mushrooms, tangled roots and vivid fragments of color found among moss and fallen leaves. I do not reproduce nature literally; I allow these observations to guide the material until a new form appears. The result remains open to imagination and personal interpretation.

I do not usually begin with a finished sketch. The work grows intuitively during the making process — through the dialogue between hands, materials and feeling.

The metal is darkened with patina, carefully sanded and polished, then treated with an antioxidant finish to help protect the surface and preserve its deep tone.

The red glass catches and transmits the surrounding light. Its appearance may shift from bright scarlet to deeper ruby red depending on the lighting, background and viewing angle.

Because every pendant is shaped by hand, small differences in the curves, mushroom stems, glass form, decorative details and finish are natural and make each necklace individual.
