Red Stained Glass Poppy Necklace – Blackened Copper

A handcrafted poppy-inspired pendant necklace made from copper, pewter, red stained glass and steel. The sculptural botanical composition combines luminous red and amber-toned glass elements with slender curved stems, small buds and organic forms inspired by poppy flowers and seed pods.

The pendant is designed as a wearable botanical object, somewhere between jewelry, a natural memory and a personal symbol. Each piece is shaped and finished by hand in my family workshop on the Baltic coast of Poland.

The design begins with impressions of poppy flowers, dry seed pods and delicate wild plants moving in the wind. I do not reproduce nature literally; I allow these observations to guide the material until a new form appears. The result remains open to imagination and personal interpretation.

I do not usually begin with a finished sketch. The work grows intuitively during the making process — through the dialogue between hands, materials and feeling.

The metal is darkened with patina, carefully sanded and polished, then treated with an antioxidant finish to help protect the surface and preserve its deep tone.

The stained glass catches and reflects the surrounding light and may appear brighter, darker or more amber-toned depending on the lighting and background.

Because every Yadovito piece is made by hand, small differences in stem curves, glass placement, botanical details and finish are natural and make each item individual.
