Two Mushroom Clear Glass Earrings – Blackened Copper

A pair of handcrafted mushroom earrings made from copper, pewter, steel and clear glass. Each elongated oval composition features two sculptural mushrooms growing among delicate curved stems and botanical forms.

The mushrooms rise at different heights and have smooth, individually shaped conical caps without raised dots. Their slender stems create the impression of a miniature fungi garden enclosed within each open frame.

A large round clear glass element forms the luminous base of each earring. It is surrounded by a textured setting of tiny metal spheres and pointed organic details resembling new growth emerging from the forest floor.

Depending on the lighting, background and viewing angle, the glass may appear crystal clear, milky white, softly smoky or touched with pale reflections from its surroundings.

An elongated metal bud rises on a separate curved stem. Another flowing line forms an open loop and ends in a small rounded droplet, adding movement and balance to the composition.

The thin oval frame follows the direction of the stems and gives each earring a light, elongated silhouette. Open spaces between the individual elements keep the design visually airy.

The two earrings form a coordinated, oppositely directed pair. Their compositions follow the same visual rhythm but are not mechanically identical, preserving the organic character of the handmade work.

The deep black finish emphasizes the smooth mushroom caps, fine stems and luminous glass. Depending on the light, the metal may appear matte black, dark graphite or softly metallic.

The version shown in the photographs has two smooth mushroom caps without dots, clear glass and a black finish in each earring. Raised mushroom dots, another available glass color, a custom earring size or a silver-tone finish may be requested through personalization.

These earrings are designed as small wearable botanical objects, somewhere between jewelry, natural memories and personal symbols. Each component is shaped and finished by hand in my family workshop on the Baltic coast of Poland.

The design begins with impressions of slender mushrooms, curled forest shoots and drops of light found among moss and fallen leaves. I do not reproduce nature literally; I allow these observations to guide the material until a new form appears.

I do not usually begin with a finished sketch. The work grows intuitively during the making process — through the dialogue between hands, materials and feeling.

The photographs show two mushrooms and closed lever-back clasps rather than open ear wires.

The metal is covered with black patina, carefully sanded and polished, then treated with an antioxidant finishing solution to help protect the surface and preserve its deep tone.

The glass is melted in a special kiln and individually shaped. Subtle differences in its contours, internal texture, transparency and reflections are natural characteristics of the handmade process.

Because every mushroom cap, curved stem, oval frame and glass setting is shaped and assembled by hand, small differences in the curves, spacing, proportions and finish are natural and make each pair individual.
