White Ceramic Mushroom Necklace – Blackened Copper

A handcrafted mushroom pendant necklace made from copper, pewter, white ceramic and stainless steel. The elongated openwork composition combines a sculptural dotted mushroom cap with two round white ceramic elements rising on slender, gently curved stems.

The smooth white ceramic accents create bright focal points against the deep black metal. Their simple rounded forms contrast with the delicate stems, tiny soldered details and organic irregularities of the handmade composition.

The flowing metal lines cross and intertwine through the center of the pendant. A small curled botanical tendril extends to one side, while the lower section develops into an airy openwork structure finished with a textured cluster of tiny metal spheres and two rounded droplet-like details.

The dotted mushroom cap gives the pendant a recognizable forest character, while the unusual proportions and abstract white elements leave the design open to personal interpretation.

Despite its elongated shape and detailed construction, the open structure keeps the pendant visually light. It can be worn as an everyday woodland necklace or as an unusual piece of sculptural wearable art.

The pendant is designed as a small wearable botanical object, somewhere between jewelry, a natural memory and a personal symbol. Each component is shaped and finished by hand in my family workshop on the Baltic coast of Poland.

The design begins with impressions of solitary mushrooms, pale forest berries and delicate stems found among moss and fallen leaves. I do not reproduce nature literally; I allow these observations to guide the material until a new form appears. The result remains open to imagination and personal interpretation.

I do not usually begin with a finished sketch. The work grows intuitively during the making process — through the dialogue between hands, materials and feeling.

The metal is covered with black patina, carefully sanded and polished, then treated with an antioxidant finishing solution to help protect the surface and preserve its deep tone.

The ceramic elements are individually shaped and finished. Small differences in their contours, surface and shade are natural characteristics of the handmade process.

Because every mushroom cap, stem, ceramic element and decorative detail is assembled by hand, small differences in the curves, spacing, proportions and finish are natural and make each necklace individual.
